Professional 6 Month Photos

We had some photos done at Kiddie Kandids inside Babies R Us. Alecia was our photographer and she did a great job! She was so patient in getting them to smile and took a lot of time with each of them. We’re thrilled with the way the photos came out!

New Foods, Pediatrician Visit & Other Updates

Matthew and Claire turned 6 months old on 6/16. We had our 6 month check up last Friday 6/26. Dr. Navai says they’re doing great. Matthew is now 18 pounds, 4 ounces and is 27 inches long. He’s in the 75th to 90th percentile for height and the 50th percentile for weight. Claire is 15 pounds, 4 ounces and is 26 ½ inches long. She’s in the 50th percentile for height and the 25th to 50th percentile for weight. They received all their 6 month shots and won’t have to go back for another check up until 9 months.
Updates on Claire: Babbles ALL THE TIME!!! Especially when you take her for a walk in the stroller or a ride in the car. She has 2 teeth on the bottom just starting to poke through. She can sit up on her own for a few seconds. She loves the jumperoo, her favorite thing to do is jump in her jumperoo the same time Matthew is in his so she can watch him while she jumps up and down and screams at the top of her lungs. She shows a huge interest in the dog when he walks by, she laughs at him. She laughs out loud when Jeremy plays with her and loves to grab her toes. Her new skill is trying to scoot towards something she wants (particularly any type of paper).
Updates on Matthew: Babbles and coos when you talk to him or put him on your lap. Thinks everything is funny, especially the dog. He has 2 teeth on the bottom. He can sit up very well and thinks that he should no longer have to lay down on the floor only sit. If you lay him down to play he cries until you sit him back up. He also loves his jumperoo, he cries when you take him out. His favorite activity is taking a bath. He kicks the water as hard as he can and has now started slapping the water with his arms as hard as he can. He already seems to play rough, Jeremy and I are pretty sure he’s going to break everything in the house. He laughs out loud when you talk to him and is starting to be ticklish.
Matthew and Claire have been trying fruits along with their rice cereal for the past couple weeks. They really seem to enjoy peaches, pears, applesauce and prunes. We’re going to do a couple more weeks of fruits and start some veggies at the 7-month mark. Here’s a photo of them trying prunes. Yikes!

Father's Day 2009

This year was Jeremy’s first Father’s Day. We didn’t do too much that weekend, just relaxed and hung out with the babies. On Saturday, we went to see my Dad and Grampa S at my parents’ house. My Mom watched the babies while Jeremy and I went to see The Hangover at Star Great Lakes Crossing Movie Theater. (This was his Father’s Day gift from me because he loves to go to the movies; the babies got him a polo shirt). The movie was hilarious and we will definitely be purchasing it when it comes out on DVD. On Sunday, we just hung around the house most of the day. Matthew, Claire and I made a quick trip to see Gramma and Grampa M in the evening.

Busy Weekend

We had a really busy weekend, the weather was great so that was really nice. On Saturday, Jeremy ran in the Farmington Hills Police 10K for MDA, so he didn’t get home from work until about noon (he had a night shift Friday night). Matthew, Claire and I enjoyed some time outside in the sunshine while Jeremy took a quick nap. Both babies enjoyed playing in the grass.

Saturday afternoon we took Matthew and Claire to Erica Alonzo’s high school graduation party. Rhonda did an awesome job organizing the party, they had a Velcro wall to play on and tons of food. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay long because we needed to get to the Tiger game for the NTN yearly baseball outing. The Tigers won (they played the Anaheim Angels), it was a close game so it was pretty exciting. The Red Wings were also playing in Detroit that night so downtown was pretty lively. My Mom was watching Matthew and Claire so we headed back home after the game.

On Sunday, we went to Don and Jill’s daughter Heidi’s Baptism in Farmington Hills. The ceremony was really nice, Matthew and Claire were pretty quiet throughout the whole thing, just a few little outbursts (we sat in the back so we could try not to be distruptive!). Rhonda helped by holding Claire so I could take some photos and do a reading.
After the ceremony, we headed back to Don and Jill’s for lunch. Don and Jill had everything set up outside, it was nice to be able to sit outside and eat. Matthew and Claire took some photos with Heidi, Matthew tried to eat Heidi’s dress.
After we left Don and Jill’s we headed to my Grampa and Gramma’s house for Gramma's birthday. Uncle Rob, Aunt Stacey, Uncle Paul and my Mom were there, too.
We had some cake and stayed for a little while. We headed home just in time for the babies to take a bath, they were pretty exhausted so they went to be a little early while I caught up on some laundry. We had a fun weekend, but hopefully next weekend will be a little quieter!!!

A few updates

Matthew and Claire are almost 6 months old! I can't believe it! Claire rolled over the other day (6/1), Jeremy was home during the day with the babies and said he set her down for some tummy time and she rolled right back over on her back. I guess she had plans of her own! Matthew has 2 teeth on the bottom as of yesterday (6/4). Claire's two bottom teeth are trying to poke through but they haven't yet. Right now, they eat rice cereal and peaches twice a day. Once they're 6 months old we'll start expanding to other fruits (applesauce and bananas). They both babble all the time and enjoy listening to themselves (and each other) scream really loud. They both grab their toes (especially in the bathtub). Claire's new trick is passing a toy from one hand to the other. They're starting to enjoy holding and playing with toys and watching the dog is a new favorite activity. Matthew loves his jumper and Claire loves when someone reads to her. I'll post some info and new stats after they go to the pediatrician for their 6 month check up in a couple weeks (6/26).
